Regal in Clubs

I'd forgotten I hadn't posted this one. I drew and inked this during the last few free days that I had before grad school started, back in August. I think I was planning to color it before I posted it. I have the colors started in Photoshop... lots of pretty, pretty greens.

This was me missing the days when I'd draw crazy elaborate fashions and fancy dresses. I wasn't trying to depict anything in particular. I chose my old (OLD) character Xan, because I like her hair and I like that she's an albino, and I drew her while thinking of her alternate role as Mary Ann in my friend's Wonderland. (She was an albino rabbit with red eyes, same as the White Rabbit, and also by default served the Queen on Hearts.) I thought about what kind of court regalia she might don if she switched loyalties and joined the Queen of Clubs.

I know, I know, awfully fancy for a servant, but again, the concept was only a catalyst. I just wanted to make a really fancy dress. But I brought in the clubs, and also mushrooms. (Even her short staff is a mushroom.) And although her Mary Ann role has only rabbit ears, they didn't look right when I drew them, so I gave her normal ears and made the rabbit ears part of her weird coronet thing.
